It certainly feels like the end of another era as two of my favorite underdog TV shows fold their tents this summer.
Two months ago, when all the buzz on contract renewals and spin-offs and things like that were flooding the entertainment columns, I kind of had the feeling that both shows would get the ax. Turns out, I was right.
The retirement of Gilmore Girls has been expected after Amy Sherman Palladino, (series creator and source of Northern Exposure-y quirkiness and hip banter) abruptly left the series a year ago, but the injustice to the cult hit Veronica Mars has left me astounded. It has always been a choice between quality and ratings. But at the end, it's a shame critical nods and loyal fan cries weren't enough to save this feisty teen detective from cancellation.
Goodbye Stars Hollow. Goodbye Neptune.
